Mais que se passe-t-il donc en Belgique actuellement ?
Ah oui … le budget pour l'achat de 34 F-35 ?
Ben non !

Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D9 Citation:
Some magic is happening in Belgium. Our good friend Eric Vormezeele is rebuilding a FW 190 D9 in order to get the probably most beautiful German warbird back in the sky. This unique project carries the identity of Ofw Paul Drutschmanns "Weisse/White 3" of Jagdgeschwader 54, shot down by Polish Spitfires on January 1, 1945 at Waasmunster. We (BAHAAT / Luchtvaartgeschiedenis.be) recovered the wreckage of this "Dora" back in 2004 and major parts of it, and the identity plate, are used on the Flugwerk body. Talking about “reversed engineering”…
Now Eric and his team succeeded in making a genuine wartime Jumo running. This engine was found in Germany, being in storage since the end of the war. It probably flew on another Dora until it was hit by an allied cannon shell, a shot which penetrated the compressor. After many hours of painstakingly dis- en re-assembling the +70 yrs old engine, this feat of German engineering runs again - although on a battery. Enjoy the footage I made with my mobile ;).
This project is in memory of Eric's son Adjudant chef Harold Vormezeele, who was KIA in February 2013 in Mali fighting Islamists as an elite commando of the 2 REP Foreign Legion. when not in the front line, Harry worked with his dad Eric on this project. They shared the same dream to see White 3 flying again.
We're still looking for parts of FW 190, so if anyone can help in any way, please contact me or Eric.
